If you have recently purchased an apartment in Calicut and you have young children, you will be most probably looking for ideas to decorate your kids’ rooms in the best way. As one of the most well-known and experienced builders in Calicut, we have some tips for you to get you started:
- Kids’ rooms tend to be smaller than other rooms usually; for this reason, you need to ensure that you don’t clutter it with too much furniture or other stuff. Children also need to have enough space to freely run about or play in their room. Try to arrange the furniture so that it is all to one end of the room, and the central space is free for your budding sports persons.
- Children’s rooms should always be bright, cheerful and colorful. Make sure there are big windows that allow sufficient light and air to come in. Use colors that are bright and warm – on the walls, for the mats, curtains, sheets and other things like toy baskets and so on. Try to color co-ordinate: use different shades of the same color to create an interesting look for their room.
- Avoid any furniture with glass. Their room is your kids’ last refuge. They should feel free and safe to do as they please; fearing glass breaking will restrict their movement. Remember, they have only one childhood. Also avoid placing expensive artwork, lighting accessories or anything that can give you despair if it breaks!
- Create a study area that offers the least distraction. Don’t have the desk facing the window as they may be tempted to look out and get carried away. Place table lamps or soft lighting just above the study desk so they can read without straining their eyes. Use tables with adequate storage for their books, stationery and assorted accessories. Create a soft board on the facing wall so they can pin their artwork, important notes or reminders, for quick access. It doesn’t cost much, and your kids will love it.
- If you have two kids, you can have a bunk bed to save space; it will also be fun for them to climb up and down – remember kids need to spend all that pent up energy!
- If you have the space, you can set aside one wall for their toys and games, by making a simple storage shelf. If you don’t, make sure you have toy baskets to put the toys back in after play to keep the room neat and uncluttered.
