Are you wondering how you will exercise and maintain a fitness routine if you move to an apartment/ flat in Calicut? You may be surprised to know that there are many ways to achieve your daily fitness goals without disturbing your neighbors or spending a whole lot of money! Read on to know more:
- You can jog in place, and alternate it with a few jumps now and then. Yes, it can get boring, so switch on the TV or listen to music to make it more fun. Make sure to wear comfortable jogging shoes to minimize injury.
- Rope skipping: if you have sufficient free space in your bedroom or living room, this is a great way to get your daily dose of cardio workout; again, be sure to wear proper shoes, or you could damage your feet.
- Weight lifting: no, we’re not talking about buying dumbbells; use stuff lying around in your Calicut flat, like soft drink bottles, cans, liquid cleaner bottles and so on.
- Use a stability ball: this is an inflatable ball and can be deflated and stored away when not needed. You can sit back on the ball and do crunches to give your abs a good workout.
- Usual gym exercises: You can do push-ups, planking and wall sitting – all great to build upper and lower body strength. Start with just a couple of repetitions, and gradually increase every day to boost your strength.
- Climb up: Limit the use of the elevator, and walk up as much as you can. Try to completely avoid the lift when you have to come down. If you live on a very high floor, walk up at least part of the way to begin with, and try to slowly increase the number of steps you climb.
- Aerobics: If you have adequate space in your living room, you can do aerobic exercises to some rhythmic music. Or, just put on some dance music and dance to your heart’s content to burn those pesky calories!
- Walk: Take a walk in the morning and/or evening around your apartment building. Listen to some music, or form a regular group so that it doesn’t become monotonous.
Living in an apartment should not stop you from living a healthy, active life. You just need to think out of the box to come up with ideas to exercise.
